About the Author
Simha R. Magal, Ph.D. is Professor of Management (MIS) and Director, ERP initiative, in the Seidman College of Business, Grand Valley State University, Michigan. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. His primary research interests include e-business and enterprise systems. His articles have appeared in such publications as MIS Quarterly, Journal of MIS, and Information and Management, among others. He is Editor of AISWorld Net aisworld.org and has served on the editorial boards of several journals. He served as co-chair of the inaugural conference of the Midwest Association for Information Systems (MWAIS) in 2006 and as the president of MWAIS during 2008-2009. Jeffrey Word, Ph.D., is vice president of product strategy at SAP AG. He is responsible for defining SAP's future product strategy and for fostering product innovation within SAP. Dr. Word has worked for several Global 1000 companies in the high-tech industry for nearly 20 years, specializing in business and IT strategy. At SAP, he has driven the evolution of the company's enterprise technology strategy, with a special focus on corporate process improvement initiatives and services-based IT architecture design. Dr. Word earned his Ph.D. in information systems at Manchester Business School in England.

A truly in-depth functional overview of all aspects of SAP ERP

After reading this book I feel like I can call myself an SAP functional expert now! Before reading the book, I had a good functional understanding of parts of SAP ERP and some technical knowledge of SAP ERP and had read many books on SAP ERP; however, after reading this book, I feel like only now do I truly have the most comprehensive functional overview of SAP ERP. I may not be able to configure an SAP ERP system; but I have a really good understanding of what goes into an SAP configuration and how my business might map to an SAP implementation.

The book is based on the TERP-10 course that the SAP Training team offers; but while TERP10 requires the attendees to spend 3-5 intense days getting in class or online; this book allows busy professionals to get a similar (albeit, not as deep) overview at their own pace, on their own favorite e-Reader devices (Kindle, iPad, Surface, etc.), at their own favorite location (beach, kitchen, etc.)!

The book looks deceptively small -- but once you start getting into it, it gets very intense very quickly. A sample manufacturing company -- Global Bike, Inc. -- is taken throughout the book and all business processes in that company are clearly described. These business processes are implemented in SAP ERP and the book gives a very good description of how this business maps to SAP. The illustrations throughout the book are very helpful as are the video demonstrations. The video demonstrations showing the SAP transactions complement the text and the graphics very well and solidify the understanding of the business process.

One suggestion to the authors to take this book and its content to the next level would be to make an SAP ERP system available on the cloud with all the configuration and master data. Users of this system will be allowed to complete exercises, such as to complete the entire procure-to-pay process (create a PO, receive good, receive invoice, and pay the vendor), on this system. The practical understanding of SAP ERP that came from such a demo environment would be immense and I'm sure that the readers of this book will be willing to pay extra for access to such a system.

Great Core SAP Book

This book is excellent as a core book for SAP. I deducted one star simply since I believe the description of this book should have told us up front that this book is a slight different version of "Integrated Business Processes with SAP Systems", published by Wiley. Otherwise, this book would have been a 5-star book with brief introduction to some of the basic business processes rendered by SAP system. in a clear and insightful way. It is a very good introductory book for anybody who wants to learn and understand some of the basics about business processes of SAP ERP

The book content is the backbone of the 18 months posgraduation course in SAP business process offered by ULT. It helped me to understand the main concepts of business process in general. It would be impossible to reach the results obtained without this fantastic book of Word and Magal.

Sofiane Amziane is Professor and head of the Civil Engineering department at POLYTECH Clermont-Ferrand in France. He is also in charge of the research program dealing with bio-based building materials at Blaise Pascal University (Institut Pascal, Clermont Ferrand, France). He is the secretary of the RILEM Technical Committee 236-BBM dealing with bio-based building materials and the author or co-author of over one hundred papers in scientific journals such as Cement and Concrete Research, Composite Structures or Construction Building Materials as well as international conferences.
Laurent Arnaud is a Bridges, Waters and Forestry Engineer (Ing�nieur des Ponts, Eaux et For�ts) and researcher at Joseph Fourier University in Grenoble, France. He is also Professor at ENTPE (Ecole Nationale des Travaux Publics de l’Etat). Trained in the field of mechanical engineering, his research has been directed toward the characterization and development of new materials for civil engineering and construction. He is head of the international committee at RILEM – BBM, as well as the author of more than one hundred publications, and holder of an international invention patent.

We can feel overwhelmed by other sounds and it can feel like they are drowning out the one or two instruments that we have learned. With some help interpreting the other instruments that give that symphony its rich texture, we can start to relax and appreciate the individuality of each piece. We are practising clinicians who are also involved in research. This book reflects an evidence-based approach to management of clients with dysphagia, while providing tips that reflect our extensive experience in managing feeding and swallowing problems in adult and pediatric populations. We hope it will encourage new clinicians to learn to ask the questions that will assist them in individualizing assessment and treatment for their patients. It has been our experience that students learn about different aspects of dysphagia and its management in the university setting, then arrive for clinical practicum with no idea of how the pieces of the puzzle fit together: for example, WHY a facial nerve weakness will mean that the person with dysphagia is likely to struggle to drink without anterior spillage, or the need for strategies to manage drooling. This book uses a series of case studies to help demonstrate how the pieces of the puzzle fit together. Dysphagia requires you, the clinician, to multi-task your anatomy and physiology university knowledge with the individual needs of the person sitting in front of you. This type of task requires the ability to draw on multiple sources. This book is a companion that will show you strategies for how to apply that knowledge and how to listen to the patient’s symphony so that you get a feel for the rich texture of dysphagia in practice. This book is different from other dysphagia textbooks in another significant way. We wanted to use visual maps to help you recognize the many facets you need to consider when working with a person with swallowing difficulties. This strategy uses metacognition to help you become lifelong learners. Many of us have a preference for visual learning and we aim to tap into this preference. We also wanted to make this a user-friendly book, so we’ve coded the different sections using symbols to help guide you to the bits you need quickly. In short, we wanted to write the book that WE wished we had when we started our journey learning about dysphagia! About the Author
Dr Claire Langdon Claire has worked extensively with adult dysphagia, in acute, rehabilitation and residential care facilities. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Speech Pathology, a Master of Public Health (Epidemiology) and completed her PhD investigating factors predicting pneumonia in acute stroke. She is a Fellow of the College of Health Service Management, and was awarded a Fellowship in 2010 by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust to undertake research into the use of devices to facilitate rehabilitation of dysphagia. Claire is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society, an international body of researchers with an interest in deglutition and swallowing. She is a Principal Investigator on a study investigating relationships between stroke, dysphagia and sleep apnea. Claire is working to develop the use of novel systems - including simulation learning - to support education and learning for health practitioners. Karen Jardine Karen is a specialist in the field of pediatric feeding and swallowing. She has worked in a range of settings including community, private practice, research and acute care. Karen currently works at a tertiary hospital in Brisbane providing feeding and growth support to babies with congenital heart disease. She has special interests in mentoring other clinicians in the field, pediatric videofluoroscopy, and ensuring families are provided with practical, real-life care and support to see their children thrive. Julie Cichero Julie is a dedicated specialist of feeding and swallowing disorders. For over 20 years Julie has worked in public and private adult acute, rehabilitation and extended care facilities and more recently in the community with babies and children. Julie has been a lecturer and researcher affiliated with The University of Queensland since 1996. She is an invited national and international speaker, and reviewer for a number of international medical, nursing and allied health journals. She has published two books Dysphagia: Foundation, Theory and Practice (2006, Wiley & Sons Inc.) and More peas please: Solutions for feeding fussy eaters (2009, Allen & Unwin) and contributed chapters to other textbooks. She has served as a consultant on dysphagia for the National Stroke Foundation (Australia), Speech Pathology Australia, the Dietitians Association of Australia, and the American Speech and Hearing Association (Division 13 - Dysphagia). Julie is a member of the Dysphagia Research Society.

Great guide for new grads!

I ordered this book as a new graduate of speech pathology hungry for guidance to bridge the gap between theory and practice. I had had relatively good exposure to dysphagia on clinical placements, but felt unprepared to assess and manage patients with dysphagia caused by a wide range of conditions in a busy clinical setting. Although it may look like a textbook, I found, much to my surprise, that I became engrossed in it and read if from cover to cover. Why was this so? I suppose partly because it had the ring of truth about it, having been co-written by three clinicians with extensive experience at the clinical coalface. It was also that I was hungry to see theory applied to cases - to be walked through clinical reasoning and decision-making in cases where the aetiologies and patient/family characteristics were very diverse. I also appreciated that the text was well-referenced, with recent research cited to back up the authors' assertions. At the end of each case, the presenting condition and clinical problem-solving pathway is summarised using coloured diagrams called MindMapping, I hadn't encountered this approach to learning before and am not a particularly visual person, but the MindMaps worked well as metacognitive summaries. I found that I would look over them and talk myself through the case again. My only gripe is that more time could have been spent on editing as I noticed a number of typos and misspellings. Overall, though, I commend the authors on self-publishing a text that fills a clear need for new graduates and has been written in the best spirit of professional mentoring.

A must have for Speech Pathology students!

I found this invaluable during my clinical placements for my Masters. A brilliant look at the myriad ways swallowing can be affected, looking at real life case studies. I was privileged to attended a lecture on general swallowing assessment and a master class on cervical auscultation run by co-author Julie Cichero, who was both extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the field. Highly recommended for Speech students.

This book was exactly what I was hoping for, and exactly as described. Bridge between theoretical coursework and clinical work. As a grad student in SLP, I feel much more prepared for my upcoming medical internship. (I started reading the book before I started my Dysphagia coursework but found it more helpful near the end of the class.) Very impressed and grateful!

Melodramatic nonsense

This book is just plain silly. The whole thing, including the sex scenes, is overblown and melodramatic. I've read the entire Nauti series prior to this one, and this is by far the worst of the bunch. I enjoyed the others.

The narration is awful. The voices and accents of the various characters change willy nilly, and sometime the men sound like squeaky women. It's also possible that my lack of enjoyment of the sexy bits was due to the narrator's "passionate" over-the-top delivery. It was hard to take.

I'd have given the book one star, but I gave it an extra point for being free.

There are lots of things that happen in the story, and that might sustain the interest level for some readers, but the fact that absolutely nothing was resolved, and the story just abruptly ends, is a huge turn-off.

Go ahead and read it if you're interested in what happens to Piper and Jed, but don't expect much.

Leigh knows how to write hot and sexy scenes!

This genre is a bit of a stretch for me, but I wanted to try something a little out of my comfort zone. Even though it is labelled as "Erotic Romance/Erotica," it feels very much like a Romantic Suspense novel only with more graphic sex.

Leigh wastes no time in getting right into the naughty bits! Piper Mackay is a 24 year-old woman who lives with her two sisters at Mackay's Bed & Breakfast Inn owned by her mother in Somerset, Kentucky. She has had a crush for the past year on the man who has been staying in the room next to hers, Jedidiah "Jed" Booker. He says that he is in the construction trade and is working on some projects in town, but Piper has her suspicions that there is more to him than meets the eye. She lets herself into Jed's room, presumably to clean it, just as Jed exits from the shower in just a towel. In the next moment, the two are in a hot clinch and Piper is pressed up against the wall with her legs wrapped around his waist. They get interrupted, and Piper is thankful because she worries that Jed is as controlling as her half-brother, Dawg. Jed scrawls his telephone number in her journal and tells her to call him when she's ready to give him a chance.

Piper is a small-scale fashion designer and dreams of hitting the big time. Dawg and her male cousins are very overprotective of Piper and her sisters, and none of them can go anywhere unaccompanied by a chaperone. When Piper receives a letter from a fashion mogul in New York expressing an interest in her designs, she sneaks away without telling anyone that she is leaving the state. She ends up getting roughed up in her hotel room just as she is checking out of the hotel, and her purse with her identification is stolen. The hospital staff find Jed's phone number in Piper's journal and call him to ask for permission to treat Piper who is unconscious. The knight in shining armour rides out to Piper's rescue.

There is no question that Leigh can write hot and sexy scenes. I was okay with that, even though this book is a lot more explicit than what I am used to. What I am not okay with is reading about a woman getting knocked around. Poor Piper gets assaulted by men on two separate occasions, and the second time she wound up in the hospital with a concussion. I do not know enough about Leigh's work to know whether this is a common element in her books, but I didn't like it.

I love Alpha males who are protective, but I don't care for overbearing and domineering. Jed does not have these negative qualities, but Dawg and Piper's cousins are control freaks. At the end of the book when Piper is just about to find out the truth about what is going on, she decides she does not need to know and walks away and leaves the matter in the hands of Dawg and her cousins to deal with. What?!? Piper is way too subservient for my liking.

This novella is part of the Nautier and Wilder anthology by Leigh and Jaci Burton, which is also a part of Leigh's popular Nauti series. Even though I haven't read any other books in the Nauti series, I didn't have any difficulty in following along.

There were definite parts of the story that I didn't like, but I think the racy parts made up for it! Overall, I enjoyed it but I do not think that I will read any other books in the Nauti series. It sounds like Leigh's Breeds series, which are Paranormal Romances, would be more enjoyable for me, and I will be trying it out.

Manxie Hardy is a new-to-me narrator, and she was okay but some of her male vocalizations grated on me. Dawg sounded like a redneck brute with more brawn than brains.
