About the Author
Edward Field's collections of poetry include "Counting Myself Lucky" (Black Sparrow) and "After the Fall: Poems Old and New" (Pittsburgh University Press). His nonfiction book, "The Man Who Would Marry Susan Sontag, and Other Intimate Literary Profiles of the Bohemian Era," is now available from University of Wisconsin Press, and he has co-written several novels with Neil Derrick. He resides in New York City.

Frank to its very core- classic travel narrative.

Kubuli Days is a highly personal travel narrative. It's one of those self-examining stories in vvhich the author is not afraid to reveal his haplessness and his occasional naivety. ....honest through and through and near the end I regretted very much that his trip and his tale vvas coming to a close. One gets to knovv the man but also the lost times of Afghanistan - pre-Taliban, pre-American incursion, pre Russian-invasion. Invaluable and touching.
