Yes, no (?), maybe so...

Honestly this was a pretty good book like most of Lynsay Sands books. It's funny, cute, and there's always a good mystery. I totally recommend it. The first part of this book was funny and creative.
However, I found Eve kind of annoying. She wants to please her husband too much, even setting out to solve the deaths of Cullin's uncle, father, and first wife. She does this knowing that it was what got the first wife killed--all so that her husband may fall "like" her more. Really? I'm sure as a great writer, Sands could've found a better way to solve the murders. With this, the ending felt a little rushed too.
I also didn't like that Cullin sometimes forgot his first wife or that he was married before. He was with the woman for four years and felt only "affection" for her even though he liked her as much as he liked Eve...hum. Then he's with Eve for a month(?) and he loves her? I guess we can't help who we fall in love with, but I felt that this was really inconsistent and could have been better written.
Anyway, a good book, a little rushed at the end, and some inconsistencies, but a good book nonetheless.

Definitely a Stay-Up-All-Night-To-Finish book!

Lynsay Sands has written another fast paced, interesting, stay-up-all-night-to-read book! What wonderful, fully developed characters.
I love Evelinde because she's intelligent and resourceful and wants to make a place for herself within her new clan. Can she solve the previous deaths? Is she putting her own life at risk by trying to solve them? You'll just have to read it to see, but I can tell you that the culprit will be a big surprise to you!
Cullen has lived with being unjustly called the Devil of the Highlands for so long he's almost immune to it. Some people think he is responsible for the deaths of his father, uncle and first wife because he wanted to be Laird. Is that true? You will learn when you read the book.
I had to giggle at the description of the first time Cullen sees Evelinde. What a hoot -- of course he thought she was insane!
The step-mother is truly wicked and I really hated that we didn't get to see her have some punishment for all she'd done to Evelinde. I would have loved it if the brother had come home and kicked the wicked witch out or something.

Another great Lynsay Sands novel!

Cullen and Evelinde are such an amazing couple. I loved them. Cullen had such a direct way to protecting Evelinde from her evil step mother it was sweet. As a man of very few words Evelinde fears she left her home with no belongings since Cullen tells her nothing. I love Lynsay Sands books and can't wait for more to come out!
